A new $5,000 annual scholarship developed by Matson provides financial assistance for tuition and other related educational expenses for students majoring in Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP).

Understanding supply chain management and global logistics is a critical piece of a thriving economy. Students in CBPP鈥檚 undergraduate and graduate programs can take advantage of Alaska鈥檚 location as a global logistics hub. 鈥淚f you can manage logistics in Alaska, you can manage it anywhere in the world,鈥� said Darren Prokop, CBPP professor of logistics.

鈥淔unding post-secondary scholarships like this is part of Matson鈥檚 commitment to in the transportation and global logistics industry,鈥� said Bal Dreyfus, Senior Vice President of Matson鈥檚 Alaska division. 鈥淎s an organization, we value the benefits of higher education and giving back to Alaska in ways that promote academic success. We are pleased to support the university and students in the College of Business and Public Policy through this scholarship.鈥�

Applications for the Matson scholarship are due by February 15, 2022. Many other scholarships are available through the UA Foundation, including more than two dozen specifically for CBPP students. Students may through the UA Online and the Kaleidoscope scholarship portal.
