New! OEC in Alaska Native Business Management
July 22, 2022The College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP) offers a new Occupational Endorsement Certificate (OEC) in Alaska Native Business Management that will benefit anyone doing business in the state.
鈥淚f you live and work in Alaska, you will inevitably encounter an Alaska Native Corporation,鈥� said Sharon Chilux Guenther Lind, Assistant Professor of Management at CBPP. 鈥淟earning the history and culture of these dynamic organizations adds to your success for navigating the local business landscape.鈥�
Alaska Native organizations are essential to Alaska鈥檚 economy and their culture and management practices are unique. CBPP鈥檚 Alaska Native Business Management program gives students an 鈥渦nderstanding of Alaska Native organizations, why they are here, how they work together, and how it affects Alaska,鈥� Lind said.
The program is beneficial to Alaska Native and non-Native students alike. It can be a distinctive add-on for students with a BBA in Accounting, noted Lind, as accounting firm employees need knowledge of the unique nature of Alaska Native Corporations.
The Alaska Native Business Management OEC can be completed in just 12-18 months and applies toward an associate鈥檚 degree (AAS) in General Business or bachelor鈥檚 degree (BBA) in Management. Many of the courses are available online for greater flexibility.
