The Fire and Emergency Services program emphasizes hands-on experience using advanced
technology in fire science, life safety and health care. As a student, you’ll explore
a wide variety of topics, including safety and survival, fire behavior and combustion,
fire protection systems, and principles of building construction.
The Fire and Emergency Services Technology AAS degree prepares you for a wide range
of entry-level careers, such as:
Firefighter
EMT or paramedic
Emergency services dispatcher
Emergency response coordinator
The degree also provides career advancement and professional development for current
firefighters and emergency services professionals. EMT Training courses are offered by the Fire and Emergency Services program for non-degree and degree seeking
students.

competent and ethical professionals by providing the best possible general/technical
education, offering the students the opportunity to enhance their skills, learn new
skills, gain the ability to function at a professional level and provide lifelong
learning.
DEGREES OFFERED
The Fire and Emergency Services Technology is designed to meet the educational requirements
for professional licensure or certification in Alaska. However, the program might not meet the educational requirements

Students in fall's EMT 130 — Emergency Medical Technician I burnished their clinical and decision-making skills in a trio of rapid-fire trauma simulations, thanks to a first-time partnership between the Fire and Emergency Services program and the Interprofessional Health Sciences Simulation Center.
Anchorage’s new Mobile Crisis Team — which includes fire service administration alumnus Michael Riley — responds specifically to mental health emergencies, saving traditional first responders crucial time and resources.

Services Program. Our mission is to graduate competent and ethical professionals by
offering students the opportunity to enhance their skills, learn new skills and gain
the ability to function in an exciting and demanding profession. Our program provides entry-level knowledge and skills for students planning a career
in emergency services as well as providing for the career advancement and professional
development of current firefighters and EMTs. The ²ÊÉñvlllÕù°Ô FES program is an excellent choice for students looking to build a solid foundation
in the emergency services field or looking to expand on their current knowledge. Most
would describe working in the fire service and emergency medical field as a calling,
