Each year in the spring semester, housing residents have the opportunity to tell us their plans or "intentions" for the next academic year and either renew or cancel their agreement for the upcoming year. During the Intentions Period, students who plan to return to campus next year can sign a new agreement and choose their room type preferences. Students who are not planning to return can complete an Intentions Cancellation Form to request a refund of their housing deposit.

Given high demand for student housing over the past few years, the Intentions Period for 2025 will begin March 3 this year (the Intentions Period has typically been in April) to allow Residence Life to better plan for the upcoming year and manage the number of applications. Residents, please watch your email for updates and further instructions coming soon. 

 

Important things to know if you are requesting a new room type:

• If you have a specific hall, room or area in mind, you'll have the opportunity to request that on the Intentions Application.
• Students 21 years of age or older have priority in the Templewood Townhomes and MAC Apartments. However, if space allows,  students under the age of 21 who have previously lived on campus their first two years may be eligible for a MAC apartment assignment. Students in their second year living on campus may request an apartment assignment, but should be aware that given limitations in apartment space, a MAC assignment may not be possible. Underage students in the MAC apartments must meet the following criteria:
  • Have no Code of Conduct violations
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.0

Frequently Asked Questions 

• What if I'm not sure of my plans for next year?
  If you think you might return, it's best to renew your agreement as if you were coming back. If your plans change, you can cancel the application before August 1st to receive a release of your deposit.
• What if I complete a cancellation form, but change my mind later in the summer and want to return to student housing?
  You can complete a New Student Application on UAOnline and repay the application fee and deposit. 
• What if I'd like to change my room preference request on my application? 
  You can return to the application any time before the end of the spring semester and choose Revisit/Update This Application from the menu. You can then re-sign the agreement and update the application.
   
• How can I request a roommate?
  Roommate requests can be made on your Housing Self-Service page on UAOnline once the Intentions Period is over. You'll receive an email from Residence Life once that option is available with more information and instructions.
• When and how can I choose a meal plan?
  Meal plan selection will be on UAOnline after room assignments have been posted later in the summer. You'll receive an email when this option is available.
• When will room assignments be posted?
  We'll be working on assignments and room placements over the summer and will have assignments ready to view on UAOnline mid to late July. We'll send you an email once assignments are available to view.
